In March 2017 E-commedia launched the inaugural Bristol Diversity Awards as part of BCfm Radio's tenth anniversary celebrations with plans to make them an annual event that encompassed all area's of diversity across the city.

With an array of specific award ceremonies already taking place in Bristol it was felt that a format that included all diversity strands would both strengthen and compliment the existing ceremonies.

Bristol's Marriot Hotel was the venue for both a celebration and special presentation to the 2017 winners. (Bristol Sweetmart Business Award, Up Our Street Community group Award, Daryn Carter - Bristol Pride Individual Contribution Award, Nick Ballard - Special Recognition Award and Dr Paul Stephenson Lifetime Achievement Award)

The Royal Air Force's Regular & Reserve Recruitment team sponsored the special presentation which will also launched the format for the 2018 Bristol Diversity Awards nomination process that opened to all who lives, works, serves or operates within greater Bristol area, with over 25 award categories being announced.

Amongst the special guests were Deputy Mayor Asher Craig, a host of VIP's and celebrities and a performances from TV show The Voice's finalist Lyrical.

TV personality & award winning broadcaster Sherrie Eugene Hart and her husband Patrick hosted and Bristol's Freshblood Crew alongside legendary Reggae DJ Dezzi Rankin provided the music.
